Is this any good for what it is designed for any thoughts on it I only intend to use it within its capabilities. Has any one brought this from Axminsters.

I can't cmment on the shear but have had an Axminster planer thickneser for years and it had a lot of use when I was working Axminster build well and it is a sturdy machine.

I have had one several years, works well within its specified capabilies. Seldom use the roller, but the shear and folder get a lot of use.

Looks about identical, apart from paint, to others on the market (Machinemart?), so I expect that is likely a good price at the present time – and as an end of stock line, a good saving on the normal list price (machinemart is currently around £287). Reviews, although most seem to be from idiots and/or are ‘anonymous’, appear to be good.

Never used one, and don’t particularly like ‘multiple use’ tools, but if it works OK within its limits and you are happy with its ratings, go ahead.

I would buy the 760mm version if it was that price.smiley

                Derek,

I have had a machine mart version for a least 5/6 years and I make copper fuel tanks for my stationary engines and I use all three tools. Lovely bit of kit.

Thank you all for the comments on this piece of kit. I was thinking this 3 in 1 because of space which is at a premium in my workshop.

Looks like I will just have to press the button

                    Hello Derek,

I purchased one second hand a year or two back. It works well within its specified limits. A very useful bit of kit, despite anything to the contrary, you may have heard.

                    Andrew.

I've had one for some 15+ years. Assuming its used within its specification (or even a little beyond) I find the folder is good, the shear works well but suffers somewhat from deflection. There's is a stiffener to stop the deflection but doesn't seem to work too well, I've thought of a fix for that but yet to do anything about it. The rolls are it's poorest feature, not too good. I certainly wouldn't be without it now.

The rolls needed a bit of work on mine, but they then managed to roll a 3" wide piece of 3mm steel for a smoke box OK despite the gears not meshing.

The rest will also need fettling one day
