When I moved into this house, I found part of a combination square in a cupboard. Last week I finally bought a new one. At the weekend, I found the rusty ruler part of the old square in another cupboard. I cleaned up the ruler on a flap wheel, and oiled it. It fits one of the old parts I found. I will now use the old square for rough work, and the new one for more precise measurement. I think there is an old saying which covers this situation…
