I need some Celluloid material, the real thing, not a substitute plastic. Has anyone any experience of a supplier?

I need sheet around 4mm 3/16ths thick and I could also use some round bar stock around 12mm – 1/2" dia.

All help with this gratefully received.

        graham.

          It's dangerous stuff, Graham

Very highly flammable [not far from explosive]

Dare one ask why you need it ?

As Michael says, very highly flammable. I believe the basis is nitro-cellulose – in other words, the propellant used in modern rifle, pistol and shotgun cartridges.

THIS SELLER on Amazon has quite thin sheet but I need something a little thicker as indicated in my first post.

Ideally I would like some Tortoiseshell pattern.

One of the suppliers there is in Glasgow, looks promising. I have emailed quite a few so I will see how it goes. Thanks for the help.

My father came by some scrap gun camera film…about 100mm.. three things came together….one this stuff burnes very enthusiastic ly..some beer was supplied in a sort of tin bottle. .and there were times when raf ww2 air crew had too much time on there hands…

Various rocketry experiments ensued..culminating in the ilfated rocket assisted glider. ..12′ wing span…just the right size to NOT fit though the french doors on the officers mess.

This concluded the rocketry trials… though dropping empty glass beer bottles over Germany was apartently still a hoot
