        Hi,

I seem to remember there was an article about fitting locks to a rotary table that could be controlled by electronics, does anyone know anything about this? I have had a look for it in the indexes for MEW and ME and can't see it with the search I was doing and Google returned nothing useful.

For background I was wondering if I could add driving of this to the recent Arduino based rotary table controller to make gear cutting easier.

        Thanks in advance,

        Baldric

That is something I have thought about in the past, but have never seen any article about it. Perhaps some sort of solenoid system or pneumatic system could be made to do the job.

Not a rotay table but a CNC 4th axis for a milling machine, designed and built by simpson36, used a disk brake from a mini moto bike and a mini air solenoid to lock the spindle when using it for indexing:

Can be seen in action on Youtube
