        Hi all,

Some small advancements in the workshop. This time to get a useful piece of tooling to my C3 lathe. The original one from SIEG only handles about 30-35 mm in capacity. For me that is too little as I want to be able to make things like a MT3-ER32 collet chuck and then it cannot be harbored in the original one.

I found the CES casting very interesting as they look like the Myford type which has several advantages from my point-of-view. Larger capcity and partable are just two.

After carefully reading the drawing I found that all parts above the foot can be done exactly to drawing. The foot is where the tricky parts begin. Some longer time later I was ready with the basic bits as shown below.

It is easy to see how the foot had to be modified.

I also took a picture of the steady in a mock-up setup just to show it in place on the lathe.

Don’t mind the swarf it in the middle of other work
