I have recently acquired layshaft and motor spindle 2-step pulleys from a Super 7, and am thinking about fitting them to my 1950 ML7 to give an extra range of speeds.

It looks as though they will fit, though I may need to rethink the belt guard. The new top speed would need to be used with caution as it's above the recommended maximum for the ML7 bearings.

      My questions are two-fold:

      1. Will any of the standard Myford belts fit the new setup? I haven't got access to a Super 7 to measure up.

      2. Has anybody else done this modification (I would be shocked if I'm the first to think of it) and if so, are there any hints and tips, or pitfalls to watch out for?

I would forget the "standard Myford" belts and go for one of THESE ( or similar ). Work a treat on my S7 and no need to dismantle the headstock to renew belts.

          Regards

          Norman
