          Hi Ron

On my black 5 I have fitted the pipe it in the wet header and the valve in the bottom of the smoke box, it needs to suck in cool air through the super heater pipes but its main purpose is to stop the creation of a vacuum when the regulator is closed, as this would draw in ash into the cylinders.

Hi Stan thank you thought it must go somewhere like superheater.

Only problem wish I had known before piping up as not easy job so now I will have to remove the boiler to take Super heater out pity but needs to be done.

            Regards Ron

Well a update fitted the snifter valve pipe to union o top of super heater.

Wish i had remembered before fitting the steam pipes but at last its done.

I have now refitted the boiler with all pipe work connected in smoke box.

The next two big jobs will be to fit ash pan and grate already made just need to fit.

Then i have to learn how to do all the rest of the pipe work.

Thought it would be simple till i started looking closer.

No idea how you plumb the axle pump tender and injector.

obviously i a going to have to join two to the boiler one side.

And one on the other i have made boiler with two boiler feeds using two clack valves.

what i find confusing is how the return works from the axle pump injector back to tender.

Must see if i van find a book to explain simple to you experts.

              Flipping nightmare for a novice.

              Ron

PS if anyone knows a good book to learn how to plumb it please let me know.

                Hi Ron

Water from the axle pump goes to a tee fitting one going to the boiler clack valve the other going to a screw down valve in the cab floor and then to the tender above the full water level. When the valve is open the water goes through the pump and back to the tender, when closed it goes into the boiler through the clack.

                Hope this helps

                Stan
