Triumph twins are way better in performance and handling out on the open road. But big difference in price too I think.

Performance depends on the Triumph model, but the entry level Triumph isn't that much better performance at around 50% higher purchase price. The comparative tesst I have seen usually put the RE handling & suspensions as being better.

Got to declare an interest, though – I was an "early adopter" of the Interceptor 650 last year & am delighted with it. My wife took delivery of a Moto Guzzi V7 Special that also cost around 50% more than the RE a month earlier – the MG has a bit more performance (but uses more fuel to do so) & is appreciably better finished in some areas, but it isn't 50% better. Having ridden the MG, I guess the diplomatic description would be that "we are both happy with our respective decisions" ! And that from a former (3 times) Moto Guzzi owner.

I tried to buy Triumphs on two occasions, but was not prepared to be raped by the Triumph dealers with the "deals" offered so it didn't happen.

More confirmation of dodgy dealings by Norton in this week's MCN – very sad for those involved.

A friend of my mate works for RE. He goes all over the world doing testing for them. What a job eh.

The Triumph Bonneville thruxton is very nice with all the modern Ohlins etc. Stupid money though.
