        You are wrong Pete,

It was the butler, with the lead pipe !

There is a lot to be said for a simple induction motor with a push button switch and no gimmics, and let a gearbox or a beltdrive take care of the speeds. I HATE those vati speed plastic board machines. They are a pain-in-the-arse.

I bought a package from transwave. An inverter a motor and a speed controller. It was not difficult to fit and it works a treat.

Very similar to a Chester DB8VS as well although the name 2109 suggests it may be between a DB8 and a DB10…

There's quite a family of these 'larger than mini lathes' although the DB7 isn't practically greatly different from the usual Mini-lathe.

I don't think the board from a C2/3 would be ok for this as it's a rather bigger. But I thought it was from SPG who do carry spares?

Edit – just read the last post properly – that's exactly what I did with my mini lathe in the end.

The inverter package has transformed my lathe its the best thing I ever did. It runs like a sewing machine.
