New to all this so be gentle

I got this Super Adept lathe recently but the problem is it didn't come with a big chuck, previous owner only had the sort of chuck that would usually be on a drill and while it does fit on the spindle it doesn't allow for a work piece diameter more than 10mm.

The lathe has a 3/8" spindle and I am struggling to find any back plates or chucks 1st or 2nd hand on the internet that have the right size.

How do I obtain a back plate that is the right size for the lathe? Will I have to get one made specially for the lathe?

          Hi,

You will need to get a backplate made, although you might be able to track down an Adept 4-jaw chuck.

Don't forget, the ideal is to finish the front face of it yourself.

Might be able to help by making a blank for you, but not quickly…

Might be able to get the use of a friends much larger lathe long enough to machine one so thanks but I don't think it is required.
