Stuart No.1 Reversing

Hi – Looking to fit reversing gear to my Stuart No.1. If you have completed this exercise I would most grateful for your advise. If any plans or details are available. Most interested to acquire any information at all.

Stuart do a set (or used to) of parts for making a reversing gear. This includes a drawing. It would not be very difficult to make up the reversing gear without the Stuart parts, with a little bit of fabrication, if you can get hold of a copy of the drawing. (I have one, but am probably a bit far away.) I've made two Stuart Number 1's, one with reversing gear and one without.

They don't list the kit for making the reverser for the number one but you could try contacting them to see if they will supply a copy of the drawing, the purchase of an additional strap casting may make a copy more forthcomming.

Failing that there is a reasonable drawing of the one for the 5A on their site that you could probably scale to suit the No1. A web search for Stuart No1 should give a few images of engines with teh reverser.
