Steam Roller Plans?

Hi All,

I have just been offered to view some 7 sheets of plans or drawings for a 3″ & 4 1/2″ “Simplicity” 15 cwt steam roller.

by Wallace & Stevens; marked Lion Engineering Cambs.

Will this be worth my time and effort to go a look at them about 20 miles away? Not too worried about a wild goose chase as there is a great restaurant near by for a nice lunch which ever way it turns out!

Price has not yet been mentioned…

Any thoughts welcome as usual.

I think “Lion” were the early Plastow products so at least the castings are still available and you should be able to get an idea of cost of new. Rollers don’t seem that popular so not likely to be a fast seller.

I also seem to remember they later joined the Plastow stable. They offer fairly large models of comparatively straightforward construction compared to a traction engine, eg disc wheels, marine boiler, not overmuch detail. I’d think 7 drawings are an incomplete set.

I think you’ll find plastows are near you, just west on the coast. Noel.
