I've reached here via reading this thread **LINK** and rather than resurrect an old thread thought it better to start a new one.

My question is this. I have a 1/4 steel dome rivet and looking up the table at Sapphire, it tells me that the setting allowance is just over 9mm. But the depth of the setting hole in my snap is 15mm. Have I been sent a duff snap ?

Setting hole is usually deeper than the allowance, if it were very close there would be a risk of the rivit contacting the bottom of the setting hole and expanding and therefore stuck in the set. So long as your Snap hole fits the head of your rivits all should be OK
