I've been forced to the digital version & need some guidance. Having used the archive in the past I wasn't expecting anything flash.

I use Firefox as my browser & the magazine uses about 1/4 of the screen.

When I click "full screen" the magazine disappears, ( replaced by a white screen with the sidebar & toolbar still there.)

Switching to Chrome, it will go "full screen" , sort of. The sidebar & toolbar disappear but the magazine is the same 1/4 size.

If I zoom a page to readable size, then turn to the next page it reverts to the original size.

I will not be fiddling with display resolution, this will affect everything else I do.

Is there some way to hide the silly little page icons? (this would help). Is it possible to view the magazine some other way?

Hope someone can help, we may be stuck with this for a while.

        Stay sane, Geoff.

          Geoff,

Are you viewing in Pocketmags or on MEW ? Pocketmags is better.

          Paul.

Hi Geoff, as Paul asks, is this the archive or pocketmags?

This is a screenshot of a page zoomed in with the magnifying glass in Firefox (note that the forum will downsize the image, but in practice its totally sharp and displaying about twice the size of a print copy).

You might want to try pressing <ctrl> and <+> keys at the same time in case your default zoom is set low.

Or if you have a wheel on your mouse just roll that to get the page 400% eg about 1/3 a page fills the screen

                Thanks Paul.

After your suggestion, I paid for MEW 293 from Pocketmags to check it out.

                Much better.

I will muddle through the rest of my subscription with Mytime then switch to Pocketmags. It is good enough to go digital only rather than print. Now all I have to figure out is what to do with 10 years of MEW magazines.

                Thanks again. Geoff.

                  Geoff,

You also need to bear in mind that Pocketmags will only give you access to the issues that you have paid for, whereas digital access through the MEW site allows you to view back issues from No.1. If you have access to an iPad, MEW site reading is easier, I find, in portrait orientation with the screen rotation locked.

                    Hi,

Why is the 3 issues for £1 offer on the site but not usable?

Geoff, if you have a current MEW subscription there is no need to pay again on Pocketmags, just register and then there is an option to enter your 10 digit subs code from here. That way you will still have access to all the old archive via this site and future issues the better Pocket mags reader. If you take out a subscription direct with Pocketmags or any other digital newsagent you don't get archive access.

Yet another example where the website designers need a good kicking. Too lazy to ensure ALL inputs/readers work without having to jump through hoops.

"Now all I have to figure out is what to do with 10 years of MEW magazines."

Scan 'em yourself mate, at least YOU can control the outcome.

Pocketmags app won't work on 7 but not sure about viewing via this sites archive or direct on Pocketmags as they don't say you need a particular version for online only the app. I've PM'd you something to try.

                                  Hi Geoff

You already have a valid Print + Digital subscription.

You do realise that because you bought it through MyTimeMedia you get access to the archive as a free bonus?

The archive isn't your digital subscription – if you open a pocketmags account and enter your subscription details you will be able to access all your subscription copies on it back to when you first took ouit a bundle subscription.

                                  Neil

You should still be able top view your issues via Pocketmags website, you just can't use the standalone app with Windows 7.

Thanks for your assistance, currently I have no subscriptions in my newly opened Pocketmags account, don't know what that is about, is there a time delay? Talk about hard workno, I'm glad I only shelled out a quid.

Yes as it will start with the first issue to be published after you took out the subscription so 294 will be your first in 2-3 weeks.

may be a day or two before you can view archive as it's manual at MTM.

And that's why unfortunately I wont go the digital way…..too many variables.

In this day and age why is it not all viewable via pdf……or is that too simplistic?

As I understand it mytimemedia you can see the archives but difficult to read and impossible to print a hard copy whereas pocketmags you can… but not if you use windows 7, but seems to work ok on apple stuff….

To be honest this really needs sorting doesnt it?. Most of us would sooner be "lathe-ing" than wasting hours fiddling around with a pc/laptop/tablet trying to access something that should be easy and that we have paid for.

                                          Rant over…..sorry!

Yes so simple that the sellers of pirate copies love PDF format.

I don't have a problem reading the archive, 95% of it is printable only recent issues are not easily but there are ways to do it, You can print from pocketmags site with W7

In firefox, F11 to go fullscreen and if the magazine doesn't auto resize use F5 to reload the page. Hit F11 again to come out of full screen.
