      Hi all,

<p style=”text-align: left;”>Wondering if anyone can help with some advice on how to remove the collet on the lathe. The rear piece is unscrewed but the collet won’t release. Any information would be helpful. It was quite rusty when purchased so it might need persuading out.  Have managed to spruce up the rest of the lathe, now just stuck on this part. Any advice on how to do this would also be greatly appreciated. Thankyou :)</p>

Depends how badly stuck it is. Usually I just unscrew the drawbar ( “rear piece” ) a couple of turns then, using a wooden or soft hammer, tap the end of the drawbar to loosen the collet.

If its badly rusted in, you might need to try and get some penetrating oil in there and let it soak.

Hi thanks so much for the quick response,

Everything had a good soak for 24hrs which had got it all looking and working a lot better, it’s just this last component that won’t budge..

          • Regretfully I’ve just given it a few taps and the plastic wheel on the end of the drawbar has broken! Looks like I’ll be on the look for that replacement bit ha
