I think if you appeal to one of the moderators, Jason or Neil they will be able to rotate it.

Site seems to be a bit picky about some phone and camera image files. Best practice when posting pictures is to open them in a suitable program on your computer, make sure they are the right way up, re-name and re-save under the new name.

Doesn't have to be anything sophisticated. I use the basic Preview program which comes with the operating system on my Mac. Usually take the opportunity to edit the picture size to something more reasonable for on-line too. Although medium resolution from my iPhone isn't stupidly big.

              Clive.

                    That explains it.

If you turn photos the right way up on a Mac they settings seem only export to other macs.

I recently got an article with about 44 photos, no captions all with meaningless filenames.

The author had carefully numbered and captioned them in his Mac photo-organising program, but when he sent me them they left all that behind (yes I did check the file properties).

Hi Phil, i guess its a phone photo? if so it probably has EXIF data embedded here is a link explaining it **LINK**

You can usually use any photo software and open the photo then alter it by pretty much anything, rotate, crop etc then save and the EXIF disappears so it seems to me.

Got a bit waylaid helping a pal so my post is a bit late !

For albums at least opening in Preview, turning pictures right way up if need be, and re-saving under a new file name seems to put things right way up. Works for me anyway.

The biggest problem with taking pictures with mobile devices like phones and tablets is not orienting it correctly, the camera lens needs to be at the top when you take the picture. If you don’t observe this the picture will often appear upside down once uploaded.

Phil, the simple way to invert pics posted on the forum is to turn the camera upside down!

At least that would work – turning the screen upside down when projecting an image seems to be a little less effective! laugh
