I sent another letter to Sweden.

Despite having an air mail sticker and a 96p stamp, someone at the Post Office has carefully pulled up the envelope to see my address and ignored the Swedish one fully visible in the window and sent it back to me.

          Well, here's mine.

Last week I ordered some tips from APT and next day they turned up as promised. Unfortunately I had become a bit trigger happy during the ordering process and of course ordered the wrong thing. But didn't realise this until  they arrived.

I called the nice chap at APC and explained my dilemma and his answer was to just simply put them in the post back to them and they would sort it out. I posted them back on the Tuesday and like magic the right ones appeared on Thursday morning.

          How's that then?

I have used Model Engineer Laser a few times and Malcolm puts the invoice in with the delivery, no money up front. We model engineers must be honest chaps

I ordered two carbide drill blanks from Drill Service on Monday. The order came to little more than their minimum for free delivery and I knew they only had one in stock so was happy to wait a few days. Not at all, on Tuesday I got one blank and today (Wednesday) got the second. They cannot have had musch profit left after two first class packets but they do have a very happy customer.

I have bought taps from them in the past and had good service but this is beyond the call of duty.

Hello all, a tale of crap service —–, went to Southwest Metals in Newton Abott, paid for a fair size piece of aluminium, but because they didnt have the size in stock, said they would get it in for me. They took my number, but after a week of waiting, I rang them, to be assured they would ring when it arrived. I rang again today and asked why they are messing me about, " the owner will be back later and will definitely phone you". He didnt. Im going over there tomorrow to get my money back. 2 weeks nearly,

Just a phone call with an apology would have been nice. W****rs. angry 2

My business has been using standard Royal Mail for the last 12 years with at least 3 parcels of spare parts leaving everyday. We have never had a parcel lost. Late maybe or sat in someone's office where it should not be BUT NEVER LOST.

I may be lucky, who knows?

Just a quick pat on the back for JB Cutting Tools; a few tips were ordered out of working hours on Tuesday evening, on't tinternet. They arrived in the morning post today, Thursday. This is the fourth or fifth time I've dealt with them and it's always been a first class service.

I must admit, I thought the same when this thread first started. After all the Brunell Engineering thread could be cited as an example of "outstanding" service.

Ordered some 5x13x4mm bearings from **LINK** here in Australia a week ago. After driving into town today (about 25km) they had not arrived.

It was a stinking hot day (90°+) so I did not relish a return trip to collect them for a project that I was keen to finish before the weekend.

What a nice surprise when the lady at the counter offered to deliver them to my home at no extra charge. They were delivered right on time. I reckon that is great customer service.

I would like to add Emkay Screw Supplies to the list of outstanding service.

I've just received some BSW csk screws at very reasonable price and postage cost, I'm very happy to recommend them.

Very smooth and quick transaction conducted by email.

Yesterday our Lab mechanical workshop rang Meddings to obtain a new fibre gear for their geared head drilling machine. Gave the chaps the serial number and model code. "oh" says the bloke on the other end I thinks that's going to be in our paper archive. Much muttering, banging of filing cabinets and rustling of paper. "Ah here we are"

"Says here we delivered the machine to you early 1960, is this the first time you have needed anything"

                                        "Yes"

"We really did make them to last in those days then, part will be in the post"

This following is not meant as and advert or promotion for any company.

Nowadays it seems quite normal for us to be able to order something by phone or online and have the item arrive next day. Companies, especially larger ones, are geared up to do this probably have contracts with courier companies who collect in the evening after normal business hours.

For years I have been dealing with the likes of Farnell and RS components and have now added another one to my list. If I place an order with them before 2pm it always arrives the next day, from Poland! (adds £6 ish to the order)

Similar, but much wider, range of goods than RS, as an example in their fixings one can choose between Philips and Posidrive recesses and that's after selecting head type, length, material, captive washers etc.

One downside is that being in Warsaw the VAT is higher at 23%. I cannot reclaim VAT but still use them regularly because of the range and quality of their mechanical bits.

On Saturday I ordered a kit for a 3d printer from Comburo in Newcastle upon Tyne. I paid extra to get one with uprated steppers and other parts, bespooke pre-programmed software to match the supplied equipment, proper manual etc. rather than one of the 'cheap and cheerful' kits direct from Hong Kong.

It arrived this morning, UKmail tracked in a very heavy parcel, really well packed (lots of triangular cardboard tubes neatly hand made to pad the box) with everything separately wrapped and neatly labelled in clear English. They also offer support if I get stuck with the build.

Yes, 99% of the bits have come from the Far East, but I think its a good example of using a UK dealer adds value.

My mother still uses a Miele (clothes) spin drier for her regular washing tasks. It's older than me (55) and has had a hard life catering for a family of 5 over the years. It's never broken down beyond requiring periodic replacement of the rubber drive coupling that mounts the spinning drum every 15-20 years. Even to this day they still stock parts and they are shipped out promptly at very reasonable cost. Apart from the brand reliability, this efficient service is a compelling reason for buying their products.

Honda also used to claim to stock parts for my 1967 Honda S800 (car) until fairly recently. In reality of course there is a minimum batch size for reorder, so when parts like pistons etc ran out long ago there was no realistic chance of getting more. But I did manage to buy a few, more obscure parts like ball joint boots a few years back. The pricing was a bit of a problem, mind….

Browsed this thread and noticed JS's transcript of his conversation with Yodel. Only just realised that it was dated 3 years ago – so they would have improved by now, wouldn't they?

Ordered two 30 ltr bags of cat litter. Was informed that they would be delivered by Yodel. They were … on two separate days. On each occasion the cardboard boxes were left just inside the gate of our (short ) drive, in the open air, in direct view of passer's by, without making any attempt to alert us (both at home, door bell fully functional). This was on two days when the forecast was for heavy rain (and it did!). In full view from the gate and some 20 feet and 10 feet respectively. is a fully covered car port and a deep recessed door 'porch'. "Pay peanuts etc."

Kwil, TME only opened their UK office in mid March so now as you say, orders placed through them is subject to the UK VAT rate.

As it happens I have nor placed any orders since, how long did your order take to arrive?
