Hi all.

Currently restoring a Neslein wood tool box. Does anyone know what the original finish was?

Personally I would just give it a good dose of Danish Oil.

Just looked at my 50 year old Neslein toolbox with original finish, seems to be a thin coat of varnish not oil or stain.

wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't shellac (quick drying times etc.)
