I have a 1976 Myford Super 7 for which I am desperately trying to source a dividing head kit to mount the dividing attachment to the rear of the spindle. The purpose of which is to cut clock wheel teeth. Myford don't have the item in stock, and have no idea when it will return , if at all?

Does anyone have any suggestions where I might source a kit, or know if plans exist to make the components?

      Kind regards,

      Brian

If you use 'Myford headstock dividing' as your search term, you will find plenty of inspirational material.

            http://www.hemingwaykits.com/acatalog/Compact_Indexing___Dividing_Attachment.html (another mention of GHT).

The George Thomas (Radford) headstock dividing head is the way to go for clock wheels. (Hemmingway kits)

Essentially it's a worm drive onto the bull wheel giving a 1:60 reduction. With the addition of drilled plates and indent that gets you all the numbers you require.

If you are happy with electronics a stepper can replace the division plates.

              regards Martin

Gents, thank you so much for the prompt and very helpful nformation. I came across a kit manufactured by Malcolm Wilde, he is an authority on all things horological. Malcolm nformed he has a kit for sale. By no means a cheap acquisition, £185 + carriage, but I should think a good investment. I will post a pic when the item arrives, and I manage to get it fitted.

Martin, to your ssuggestionI very much like the notion of fitting a stepper motor but I am just not there yet with competency of such technology.

                Kind regards, Brian

That's a shame Hemmingway do the Headstock dividing head for £132.40 inc VAT + carrage. I've buit 2 and they are quite simple.
