hi , I own a Myford 280 , the paint could do with a touch up. It is a different colour and texture to the green used on both Myford 7series and Myford 254.. It looks almost like a hammerite finish, it also looks very similar to the paint used on  Myford ML 10 series.. Does anyone know the correct colour and finish please,,, , thank you

          Ray,

You have not had much of a responce and I cannot help you with your request specifically, but I would emphasise that the 280s would have all gone to industrial users and Myford would paint a lathe in any requested colour. I have a Myford brochure dated 1985 for the S7s where that point is made and all the machines and stands pictured are in yellow or a sky blue.

Maybe the owners wanted to match their Startrites or other machines they already had. I cannot imagine Myford using a standard colour along the ML10 hammered green lines on a big machine, but someone may now prove me wrong. I have seen a white 254!

          Good luck

          Dennis

            Hi Dennis,

Thank you for your reply. This 280 is green and "reasonable condition" paint wise, it needs a touch up here or there. Yesterday I detached a gear cover off the drive train and took it to the local paint shop. It is definately Hammerite finish. Only problem Hammerite is limited in colour choice. So they have suggested use a Hammerite mid Green as an undercoat, this gives exactly the right texture. They have identified the colour green as near identical to PEUGEOT CAR green. They have made up a 300ml aerosol of this colour to spray on as top coat.. thank you Ray
