Very sad news. I met John once, sparred with him a little here, he did some machining for me, always very interesting contributions. He will be greatly missed, commiserations to Debs and all his family and friends.

Very sad to hear this, he was one of those great guys who was an encyclopedia of engineering knowledge. I remember when I first started model engineering, and training to be an engineer, there seemed like a vast array of knowledgeable and experienced people to look up to. The older and wiser I got, the more idols became equals and team mates, but there are a select few who are still way up at there, and John was certainly one of them in my eyes.

A great loss to the community, and to his friends and family. My thoughts go out to all.

Bloody, bloody, bloody Hell!!! Never met face to face, unfortunately, but thoroughly gutted by that bit of Monday morning news. One of those few who are truly irreplaceable. This is sad news for the ME world, but nothing compared to John's wife and family,. So sorry to hear this news. I never met John but enjoyed reading his comments on this site.

My thanks go to Ketan who made us aware of the awful news.

I expect John is already meeting up with past legends of the ME world, Tubal Cain, Professor Chaddock, George Thomas etc
