I have a large drawing i want to print off from a pdf. I reduce its size in the pdf and click print but it still prints back at the original size. Anyone have any idea ?

I usually alter it when the printer window comes up. "current view" makes what I was viewing fill the printer page, "shrink oversize" will print the whole drawing on the paper size selected

            Hi Ronan,

Your printer preferences should have a check box for "Scale to Fit Paper" or comment to that effect.

            Regards

            Barry

Thanks all. Is there anyway to reduce drawings further or is fit to page as far as you can go ?

Keep zooming out until the whole pdf is as small as you want it, click edit along the top and select "take a snapshot" chold down the mouse button in one corner of the image then while its still down drag over the area of the sheet and let go of button. it will than say the area has been copied.

Now open your wordprocessor such as Work, right click and select paste, the image will now come out the size it was and you can print from there

                  Hi ronan

the last time I had problems with a page not printing 1:1

                  I had a PCB design for fit a US letter page 8.5" x 11"

I use metric A4 paper that is 8.27" x 11.69" since the UK now uses the foreign EU paper sizes

selecting the US paper solved my problem

the samsung printer I use by default no matter what the PDF image size is it fits the paper size selected in the printer control panel

have a look at re-scaling the printout using the printer control panel

select custom scale and adjust the %  as required

                       John

                   PS

have a look a my PDF print size album – for some reason I can't add the picture to this post

                    Hi Ronan

On most versions of Adoben you should see this dialogue:

                    pdf print.jpg

Tick the radio button next to 'custom scale' and you should be able to scale the print to whatever size you want (to at least .01 of a percent) – in the red ring.

If you have a large plan, use the tab in the blue ring, this prints overlapping sheets with guide marks that you can tape together.

I got caught out printing the page in my example earlier today, as it defaulted to shrink to fit instead of 100%, luckily the bar at top right is a 6" long check scale I added.

                    Neil

                        Hi Neil

that GUI looks very like the one I can't attach to my previous post !

                        any ideas why ?

have a look at my album and see the empty box that should show the various pictures

feel free to add it to my 20 :15 post

                        John
