Where do you find them on e-bay? I've hardly seen any cut knurling tools on there and new ones are several hundreads of pounds. Plenty of cheap clamp and push on types but not many of the cut type.

They ARE a bit different from what some of us are used to

For starters, the knurl wheels come in at a different angle

I have just entered 'cut knurling tool' into ebay. It produced three responses all of which were conventional knurling tools. I then entered simply 'knurling tool' and this produced around 100 items all of which were conventional knurling tools.

                  Hi,

There was a discussion of knurling, including a comparison between deformation and cut knurling in MEW 147. I think that it was by Dave Fenner. It may be of some interest in the present discussion.

                  Best regards

                  Terry

After rereading the article in MEW147, I still have no clue how to produce such a cut-knurling style tool.

Are there plans available for a tool like that in MEW or ME ?

At what angles are the knurlingwheels placed in the horizontal cq vertical plane?

What is the relation between the diameter of the wokpiece and the placement of the knurlingwheels?

Simply said: How does it work??

                    Richard
