I need to paint the brass chimney of my locomotive with a heat resistant paint. Someone mentioned B&Q stove paint but this is matt. The finish on the smoke box of the loco is a satin finish and so I would like it to mach. Any recommendations and has anyone used Stove Bright satin black.

Automotive parts stores sell paint that resists heat up to 500 deg C. Used on brake calipers and engine manifolds and available in gloss and matt finish.

As per Paul, any good motor factor. A quick call to my local MPD branch reveals they keep black and it’s rated to 800c. Colours tend to be a much lower temp rating. Good luck.  Noel.

I’ve used this from Amazon to paint my ‘rocket stove’ and can confirm that although advertised as ‘Matt’, I found it to have quite a pleasant, slight sheen.
