The jumping ones will send me over the top.

      Please stop.

      +1 for that

P.S. A serious question may be out of context on this thread, but I have to ask:

Given that [presumably for reasons of security] we are not permitted to put anything other than jpeg files in our Albums; is it wise to encourage the embedding of animated GIFs [of unspecified origin] into messages ?

I don't know the answer, but I think a few on this forum might be able to give an educated opinion.

I've been waiting for someone to forget the smiley and use one for feeling chuffed…

For reasons of space, album jpegs get cropped and compressed by the system.

OK, GIFs move, but jpegs can be just as dodgy as can any links…

Using images like that from other sites is Hot Linking, basically using someone else's bandwidth to host the image. Some sites wont allow it…

              .

              Thanks for the clarification, Neil

… I had mistakenly assumed that we were limited to jpegs because it reduced the overhead of checking Album images for malicious payload. [single file-type = less onerous task]

What we need are audiocons; a raspberry one would be ideal.

As this is an 'emoticon' thread, there's licence to use weirder images… I do wonder at the point of some of these!

Found a pukey one for Nick:

                  Did someone mention Grommits?

                  (That's enough emoticons , Ed.)

Here's a cheat – keep the site with your favourite emoticons open.

When you want one, right click it and choose copy image location.

Insert it using the 'image'; icon above (looks vaguely like a picture of a house on a sunny day – if anyone remembers what a sunny day is like).

Hi Neil can you do this on smart phones? If so how?

                    thankyou Paul

I know this is about emoticons but nicknames seem to have crept in. A mate of mine used to run a pub, one of the regulars was always called "Nimrod" by his drinking colleagues, but my mate knew his name was Dave. Eventually he asked one of the regulars why the name Nimrod? "That's easy" replied the regular " Every time he comes around he's looking for a sub"

Most sites realise the external links boost their search engine rankings these days.
