Moderators…Is there any probability that MTM can/ will update the emoticon selection that is presently available. My smartphone is continuously updating emoticons, messenger has numerous 'smart emoticons' etc. the emoticons are at present what I would consider 'old hat' & sometimes don't reflect the humour that is intended in response / replies… just an interesting question, maybe other members have the same thought?.

Crikey, I was thinking the very thing yesterday!! If you look at the Model Engine Maker MEM website, the posters there use a hell of a lot of animated emoticons, and it really seems to promote a 'happier and less volatile forum'; probably because the emoticons inject loads of humour.

I detest emoticons and don't use them. I recently fell out big time with a long standing friend as he did not realise that what I said was a joke and he took it as a personal criticism, the damage is still not repaired. It can sometimes be difficult to demonstrate humour in a quickly written message. Maybe I should start to use them?(would you say that that is a wry smile?)

As only a handful of our standard emoticons ever get used, there seems little point adding more…

I use another forum which has many more and often animated emoticons. Unlike the ones here which cover the gamut of emotions they are all very clever but of little use for communicating emotions…

I was listening to a rather good program about emoji on radio 4 the other day whilst driving over from Buxton to collect my Centec from Sheffield.

Might be worth 1/2 an hour of your time.

Here's a cheat – keep the site with your favourite emoticons open.

When you want one, right click it and choose copy image location.

Insert it using the 'image'; icon above (looks vaguely like a picture of a house on a sunny day – if anyone remembers what a sunny day is like).
