      Hi all,

Apologies if this has been described elsewhere, but I couldn't find it when searching here and elsewhere.

Does anyone have a set of measurement specifications/tolerances for the S7 lathe? e.g. bed wear limits, spindle alignment, tailstock alignment, etc.

Mine is an ealrly 50s model, serial SK3737.

I've seen measurements discussed in various places, e.g. MEW289 Pete Barker article on tailstock bedways refurbishment mentions that headstock to spindle alignment should be under .0006".

Can anyone point to a source for this information please?

      Rick

This is the most authoritative source that I am aware of:

            Answering my own question here…

A google search for Myford-7-Series_Inspection-Sheet.pdf has the answers I was looking for.

There are three similarly named documents used as sources in that series of MEW articles. One is the guide to inspecting a pre-owned lathe here **LINK**

Another is the actual factory inspection sheet with limits for all checks here: **LINK**

And a factory guide to how they reconditioned used machines here **LINK**

The other articles in the MEW series have all the details for doing spindle bearings, bed and wide-guide conversion.

Have fun with your rebuild. You'll have a nice machine when its done.
