RE my post of the 22/8/2014, the dimensions are as foillows

from the headstock end distance to first hole is approx 2 7/8", from this hole to the next it is 15 3/8" from this to the next hole it is 27 7/8" and the last hole 29 1/3". For the first two holes from the headstock vertical distance is 1 1/4" and the tailstock end holes are 1 3/4" vertical distance. Proved these with temporary plate.

I have no idea if this will be of use to anyone, but it may. All holes are 1/4" BSW

Oooops!!!!! Re my post of the 28.8.2014, the last hole measurement SHOULD read 29 1/4" instead of 29 1/3"

            Regards Keith

Just a little bit confused as to who is posting what !

I was an apprentice at the Colchester Lathe Company about 40 years ago and, if memory serves me correctly, they used UNC threads and apart from the 55 degree Whitworth form against the 60 degree UNC form, I think that the only difference was 1/2", where the thread pitches differ.

Sorry can't be any more help.

              Best regards

              Bob Jepp

                Hi Bob,

Thanks for the post, the holes on the rear of my Bantam are 1/4" whitworth, I blew out the crud with my airline, and checked with a 1/4" whit bolt, and then cleaned out the thread with a 1/4" whitworth tap, its possible these holes were placed post manufacture, but I don't really know. I just know this is a really nice machine, hope you had your hands on it in the past!!!

                Kind regards

                Keith
