If I'm understanding correctly the consensus seems to be that the Bullfinch can reach higher temperatures (presumably on a smaller target area) so it can do brazing but the Sievert has more nozzle options and can heat a wider target area, albeit to a lower temperature.
Right?
Basically Yes Andy.
Jason's painting analogy is interesting – but you wouldn't use a ceiling roller to paint a window frame either, you'd probably find a 1/2" paint brush easier. I already have a number of small loco boilers and may build another one (maybe two at most) going forward. I do all manner of other small brazing and soldering jobs quite routinely though. So my old Sievert look-alike doesn't get used that often but certainly has it's uses. However, I could probably build a small boiler using the Bullfinch and I might be able to bronze braze with the Sievert-type too but neither would be ideal I suspect…
To avoid any further confusion, this is the Bullfinch Autotorch system I have (and it's technical specification) can be found here;

They are quite expensive but Hamilton (where I purchased mine) have them here;
