Did anyone see the Antiques Roadshow last night. Some guy had 650 works drawings from Stevenson's locomotive works. I don't think he knew what he was actually owning.

Did the roadshow gurus have any idea? What did they value the drawings at?

They valued the drawings from £10 to £100 per drawing. Given a mean average of £50 they were valued at £25,000 for the lot. He picked them up off the internet for £100.

                      Don't joke.

I was sorting my old office out yesterday, not been used for years, only as a dumping ground and to store CNC electric bits.

I found my old slide rule and drawings dating back to 1980 on motorcycle related stuff. Even a few works drawing from AMC on the 7R racing bike when we were making timing covers amongst other things.

Gearbox drawings for the close ratio Nortons and Velo's of the day, part of an Andre steering damper drawing, and 10 bronze Smiths type rev counter drive castings.

No idea what to do with this lot, drawings will probably go on the fire unless someone I deem useful shouts up for them.

Also found a box file full of Myford bumph from when their Development Engineer, Glynn Jones died and we sorted his place out.

At least 15 copies of Machinery handbook, same for Newnes.

Spent half a day just moving stuff from place to place – sigh………………

Suggest relevant owner's clubs for drawings and bits and pieces. Chucking them is definately last option

Thanks Duncan, AJS stuff is worth saving as it's original works but the Norton and Velo stuff is just my crappy home made pre-CAD drawings.

Second look at them and half the dimensions aren't listed as I only needed the gear cutting relevant bits so very, very scratty.

If classic bike clubs are like car owners ones, John would save a load of time and grief by wrapping each metal part he has in a number of drawings, repeatedly smashing them with his biggest hammer and dumping the whole lot in the nearest skip.

Tell me bout it Nicholas. spent a week try to give a machine away but finished up scrapping it.

Anyway I will be replying to the PM's I have received later tonight when I get back in [ pie and pint night ] but one interesting thing when checking the Machinery hand books is a version 14, printed in 1953 and in the flyleaf it says

" Merry Xmas. From C Moore to G.C. Jones"

On these dates that will be old man Cecil Moore of Myford fame.
