I have a A&S Horizontal Milling M/C Model “0A”-can anyone tell me the type of taper in the horizontal mandrel is please, As a Vertical head is too expensive for me I’m wondering if I can fit a mandrel of the correct taper to which I can fix collets etc to use an end mill in This would be run from a 2nd motor to give the higher speeds required. Its the same sort of set up as milling in the lathe with end mill in a chuck. I think my m/c was made in the 1940’s & only cost me £30 so has to be saved!!

          Hi Mick

Tony shows an "0" model on his site here;-  http://www.lathes.co.uk/adcock&shipleyhorizontal/page2.html

The text gives 30 INT  as the taper – so there's a start for you!

          Regards

            Hi Mick
Should be easy to fit a self-contained vertical head where the overarm is.
Perhaps a Unimat lathe or similar small milling head.
            regards david

Thanks Gents–The lathes website is really good & I have found a 30 int arbour that takes 2 morse taper tooling from RDG Tools so I’m going to try that, hadn’t thought of a self contained vert head & will see whats available before I spend money
              Regards Mick
