Do any of you have a good source of supply for them? I’m after something like this but they seem very expensive compared to what I’ve paid before.

In my opinion that is an outrageous price. Arc Euro, (indexable lockable handles) for instance are half that price.

Vic, use "Bristol locking levers" as a search term on t'internet. Lots of them about in all sorts of materials at all sorts of prices from about £2.50 each and up.

RS always have been at the top of the cost tree. Even when the RS "Catalogue" was a few sheets of paper folded and stapled together, a 1d resistor was 5d from them. Of course, no Tinternet then or "Where can I buy" instantaneous demands.

                  Regards Ian.

Yes, always at the top end, but always a dependable product. RS have always retained lines with a good quality label and dependable supply. They don’t sell ‘cheap carp’, as far as I have ever seen.

I sourced metal handles for my grinding rest from WDS as referenced by George. Excellent quality and they didn't break the bank.

Didn't infer that they did sell cheap goods, just that in many cases, going to the original equipment manufacturer, the same goods are cheaper. That's if OEM can be bothered to sell to individuals.

WDS were the first iirc to show "Kipp" handles for retail supply.

                          Regards Ian.

Vic , I use Axminster Power Tools . They have them in both male and female variants . Also believe they do similar range in castellated knobs . No connection with company , just a satisfied customer . Trevor

The comments are very unfair to RS Components. The devil's in the detail.

The handles linked to in the original post at £12 are made from Stainless Steel. A more common glass filled nylon version is a more reasonable £2.60

The levers originally linked to are actually made of zinc with stainless steel thread inserts – you have to read the full information, the heading is misleading.

RS have always been a premium supplier, mainly due to pretty much guaranteed availability for next day delivery. Over 30 years ago I worked in an Electronic repair shop, While we kept a good stock of basics, we knew we could rely on RS for next day delivery to complete a job in the vast majority of situations

I’m still looking for something suitable. Some places won’t event quote unless you’re buying for a company.

If money were no object I came across these though. M6 are £21.90 each, plus VAT, plus £9.50 postage!

The problem is these are for show so I want something that is at least as nice looking as some I’ve bought in the past. Not sure who made them but they have “Made in Germany” moulded in the underside.

If you particularly want German handles, how about Ganter ones from Zoro starting at under a fiver with free delivery on orders over £20. I have used these in the past and been happy with them. You can probably pick them up from Cromwell, but will have to pay more in store.

The postage was a bit OTT but the parts were inexpensive so I ordered a couple extra in a different size just in case.
