Hi, one that someone else pays for, cheeky however the one I had in Garda on Lake Garda, Italy, a couple of years ago was really brilliant. An excursion to Venice and a trip on a Gondola, was not to missed, among other things.

              Regards Nick.

Melbourne is pretty good as they have lots of ME clubs, a traction engine museum with several Fowler Z7Ss, narrow gauge railway, and about 100 miles up and to the left another great museum at Swan Hill  with a working Z7.

Hi Brian, yes been there, once in 77 on the Thames from Oxford to Teddington Lock and back again and once in 79 on the Cheshire Ring starting and finishing at Penkridge and going via Harecastle Tunnel and back down via Sandbach. Great holidays, but hay we were a small mixed bunch of mid twenty five'ish year olds, happy days.

                        Regards Nick.

If you have a motorcycle then the IOM TT takes a lot of beating but obviously not everyone’s taste. +1 for lake Garda, drove down in June, it was a bit hot though 39°C. I feel that paying to use the French Motorways is worth it for a very relaxed drive but I also like just touring and see where we end up type of holidays but best done out of high season or you could finish up sleeping in the car. Some friends just drive their camper to Greece and tour for 2 months. If I win the lottery I think I would spend a year following the F1 races, a world tour and a bit of racing thrown in then next year follow MotoGP. I have always fancied visiting the four points of Britain, The lizard, Lowestoft, Dunnet Head and Ardnamurchan point and a ride to the Nord Kap in Norway always appealed. Lots to do and time is running out.

Brian, I am spending a week on the Cambridgeshire Fens in a narrowboat next month, looking forward to a nice leisurely time. There is four of us in a 7/8 berth boat, we should have enough room, I have bagged the Skippers bunk, wife will be chef and daughter and her partner will be deck hands, just hope the weather is kind.

Venice, Melbourne, Vancouver and San Fransisco. No other cities are worth it! Not that I have visited all of them.

The Lizard is OK, Lowestoft Ness is just a beach, I gave Dunnet Head a miss. The Ardnamurchan, including the point, is really worth the journey. The area is truly remote with stunning scenery.

To escape life, which is why I go on holiday, nothing beats Islay. At any time of the year.

A few, limited to the UK; visiting the Scilly Isles by helicopter, the garden there is one of the finest, or drive from Inverness to Scrabster and take the ferry to Orkney, or drive the Hardknott Pass but do take a small car and not a big Yank Tank as I did the first time. Niko.
