Hello everyone, I have a problem with the wiring of the motor Tyco Crompton BS5000/11 to the switch DEWHURST, I can not make it run the motor for the right rotation direction indicating switch. Inside the motor on the plate connections there are the letters Z2-RSU1-U2P, and the capacitor is connected to Z2 and R. Does anyone know how to help me? Thanks.

          Hi Daniel,
I do not have the information that relates the labels on the terminals to start and run windings. I expect that there are four wires (Plus the earth wire) between the switch and the motor. Which of the six terminals (Z2, RS, U1, U2, P, R) do they connect to ? With a multimeter you will need to identify the terminals that are the ends of the start and run windings and also the up to speed switch if there is one. With the switch in the off position make a table of the resistance readings between ALL of the permutations of pairs of terminals and post this in your reply. This information should enable the windings to be identified. When the windings have been identified all that is required is to reverse the connections to either the start or run windings. (BUT NOT BOTH)

          Les.

I can let you have a copy of the Dewhurts switch wiring if you don’t have one. Send me your email in a PM.

Hi Les,I measured the resistance and are approximately 10 ohms between Z2 and P, 4 ohms between U1 and U2. Z2 is connected to the terminal capacitor and centrifugal switch should pass through R. For Engine Builder, my email is [email protected]

                Hi Daniel,
If there are two wires FROM THE SWITCH connected to U1 and U2 swapping those over should solve your problem.

                Les.
