Where to buy quick release nuts?

I'm trying to buy some of these in M12, link:

They are a nut that can quickly be released.

I can't find them in the UK though. The ones in the link are in USA and the company is saying the postage will be over $100 for five of them, plus import and VAT charges, so in other words they don't want to post them to the UK.

MSC Direct in USA sell them but the UK MSC Direct don't list them and won't know until the new year.

Anywhere to get the easily in the UK anyone know?

Chris – have a look at this **LINK** – not the same product but will do a similar job – quick release in M12.

For any "standard" machine part it's worth looking at WDS to see what they offer.

Bought from them in the past under their "old" small order company of Components4Machinery, now been taken uinder the main WDS banner, and been VERY happy with both price for small quantitioes and excellent delivery.

Also check this http://www.berger-tools.co.uk/ – different company, similar range of parts but look to have a bigger choice in styles of what you're after.

I'm also finding many USA (and other none UK sellers) are either not going to ship to UK or are asking so much that its not likley to be sold to us in UK.

Thanks the the links Keith, I'll probably be in the Berger-Tools one for the rest of the day. They have some interesting stuff!

I've had it quite a few times from USA companies, not wanting to ship outside the US. Postage is slow from the USA too. I buy used bike parts from there and postage costs aren't too bad it just a lot of people don't want to ship abroad.

A shame really as buying form China is much cheaper and I've had (on more than one occasion) parts arrive in 2-3 working days from China!

Hi Chris

They are easy enough to make a light weight nuts to support Guards etc

Used them to secure sheet metal guards on machinery.

You drill the 12 mm nut with a 12 mm slot drill on an angle so that there is only partial thread left on opposite sides of the nut .

Slide them on an angle to touch the guard and snug up firmly NO excess force as only a partial thread.

Chris, One of the problems with shipping from yhe U.S.A is the method that most or the companies employ, a few years ago my son ordered a computer and had it shipped to my address in Atlanta for me to forward on to him, I explained to him that the easiest way was by U.S postal service, a method I had used a number of times with presents etc. However he insisted on using UPS, we had an account with them so it was no problem.

The next call we had from him was to inform us that he had a call from cutoms and excise for a sum of money for import duty. When shipping international via UPS the details are automatically sent to customs and thus the request, when sending by post it is not done automatically, so many times the parcel is not entered into the system.This was the only time I havehad troubles with customs when shipping from U.S.A

Screwfix stock, or used to stock the quick release M12 nuts referred to above by Keith … the product code is 91887, but they seem to be currently totally out of stock … I bought a pack of 10 a couple of months ago , and that was the only pack left in the local branch.

When I need something from the States these days, I get it shipped to a friend, who then repacks it and sends it as a gift. Technically I bought it as a gift for him … he decides he doesn't want it, and sends it as a gift to me .. so we both sleep easy …

Paying the VAT on goods from the States totally freaks me out … not so much paying the VAT on the goods themselves, but they levy it on the postal charges as well.

Don't even get me started on having to pay tax on my pension …
