Not nearly as impressive as Barry's but whilst sorting out some tooling found a 4.5 mm boring bar that I'd bought some time ago, but no holder for it, so a bit of stock sq. ally, bit of time on lathe, e voila… one mini boring bar holder…

I'm jealous of you lot! I'm 'between workshops', so most of my equipment is inaccessible. This morning, I sprayed (back-pack) 100 litres of glyphosate, but was stopped by the breeze getting up. Job only half-done… This afternoon, I took pity (again…) on neighbour and chainsawed up the big lumps of the poplars recently felled on his land. Two-foot diameter trunks, but easy going, for a big saw and a beer-refuelled old man: there was just rather a lot of it (I mean the timber, not the beer). One day is much like another, really…

Began the day by picking up off the floor and sorting a box of nearly 500 stainless washers and another of about 200 20mm glass fuses.

Had to pile everything up on one end of the workbench in a heap to clear space to temporarily move a tumble dryer and install a new washing machine after removing the dead one.

Laundry reorganisation done and I retire to kitchen for cup of tea when I hear a crash. Cat has decided this is new I must climb on top to investigate – so I am picking up off the floor and sorting a box of nearly 500 stainless washers etc etc… See above sad

Just finished redesigning and downloading limit/homing switch mounts for my G0704 to my 3D printer.

While Mach3 does a pretty good job keeping track, it's nice to have real physical homing capability.

I'm also adding an adjustable switch for the Z axis that can be set to limit the low end of Z axis travel to avoid vise, fixturing, etc. Initially I was going to put it in series with the E-Stop circuit, but on reconsideration I think I will put it in the Z axis limit circuit.

Nice job Baldric on the slot cover. This is one of the extremely handy types of job for 3D printers. Great for part holding nests for machining or assembly too. Also great for low voltage electrical boxes for switches buttons motor enclosures etc.

Always better to put over travel and homing switches in the drive circuit as the axis can be recovered without to much hassle, putting in a Estop circuit can lead to the axis loosing its way and needing to be recalibrated.

Which is part of why I changed my mind. The main reason though is that with E-Stop, nothing will move until the switch clears, while with axis limits, Mach3 can be configured to allow subsequent reverse axis movement away from the switch.
