Where are you located Nije? a lot of home Diy stores do a sink side filter tap which has a seperate cartridge.

or something like this filter , ebay has lots…

I might need to fit a filter to the Club Peckett when I take it over as the injector often gets blocked. making one would probably look better and be more robust.

I make them from brass gauze. Make a nut to fit the feed pipe in the tender, drill a hole through the nut,put a 20mm dia x 1mm deep counterbore in the top end of the nut, solder the gauze into the counterbore there you have it a filter removable for cleaning. Some on ebay.

              Regards Mark P.

like the idea Mark, not sure how you would retro fit this to a saddle tank.

I have found these that could be made into an inline filter, ordered some so will have a go at some point.

Looking at this post it answered one of my questions and i bought some brass screens.

I have looked through my old ME mags to try to find a steam valve drawing all the ones i can find are either 3/16 (for 2-1/2" guage) or big ones 3/8". has anyone got a drawing for one for 1/4" x 40 that they can let me have?

The valve will be used for the steam feed to my new injector.

Fit a large area gauze filter just under the tank filler . With the tank cleaned out when new very little contamination can now get in and any line filter in injector pipework will have little to do and rarely need cleaning .

Make the tank filler filter very simple – drop in and make easy to pull out . A basket shape is best .

As regards the line filter for the injector have a good big free flow area to avoid bubble clogging .
