I am stripping down my (pre 59) super 7, and would like to replace the rear spindle bearings.

I have tried to push them out by turning one of the adjusting ring against the pair of bearings but they stop dead about five turns before the end of the thread.

Have tried to turn them either way, same story.

      What am I missing ?

          Peter,

Before removing the bearings you will need to remove the spindle, in accordance with the Myford instructions for replacing the drive belt. This is a simple procedure – once you know how to do it. If you don't have a manual, PM me your email address and I'll send you a copy of the relevant page.

The bearings are an interference fit on the spindle, so will need some encouragement.

Once you have done this you should see your way clear to replace the bearings.

There was a thread not long ago on Super 7 headstock bearings, worth doing a search on the forum for "Super 7"

            Hello Peter,

While Phil was replying I had already copied the pages from the Myford manual, they may be useful to others.

            Best wishes Brian

              Phil, Brian

Thank you Gentlemen. Yes I have already removed the spindle and looked at the manual which explains how to adjust them but not how to remove them. From the diagrams it looks like there is nothing to retain them so I will take phil's advice and encurage them!

              Peter
