He's got the wrong chuck key and defo needs to take it out before firing up the lathe.

The 'main' lathe is definitely a Hardinge or clone, but what's the lathe to the right of the shot (at 0:30 in the video, when the Hardinge is featured) and which has been spray-painted white?

I think that is a set of rolls not a lathe on the left.

Vintage South Bend judging by the inverted V ways, overhead drive gear and apron layout.

Interesting that lathes are now so retro they are cool again, in the same league as Christmas elves and other magical, mystical things.

I couldn't see a chuck key, right or wrong – but there's a whole raft of unpleasant possibilities if he starts it up.

Oh wait, were you punning on the the golden 'Key'? Ngerrr… cheekylaugh

Watching that just reminded this old Bah Humbug why he doesn't have a television.

I thought it was a Hardinge, its got the control box to move the varispeed drive pully in teh box above the head and also the separate little motor on the carrage to give feed independant of spindle speed, don't think old southbends had either of those.

Why would Tiffany think that that Ad would encourage anybody to buy their jewellery?

                            .

                            Pretty much my thought, Gary

Tiffany was a great craftsman & designer, but this stuff looks on par with Pandora Beads

The white lathe in the background, to the right?

If you don’t understand the advert, you’re not the target audience.

Apparently “Industrial Chic” is very fashionable at the moment.
