Thread & Plug Guages

Hi all,

I have a quantity of thread and plug Guages that I wish to sell on,does anyone know if they are worth selling,if they are worth it then great,you may know someone who wants a specific size then tell them to email [email protected] and we can sort from there.

I'm in the market for eight gauges if you have the right ones?

They are all for M45 threads with 3mm pitch and I need male and female LH and RH. Do you have those?

I will have a lok mate although i doubt it certainly on the female ones and the LH.

Maybe dont bother, its a full set or none really.

Spelling does not bother me, anyone can make a mistake, but I am not your mate!!!

It's a colloquialism

 

In Scotland he would say "Jim" or "Jimmy" instead of "mate" in the full knowledge that you're probably not called Jimmy and you're not mates.

If it was spoken to me I would agree it comes under your definition and I would probably not even have been aware the term was used. Putting it into the written form changes it completely.

This is an international forum, don't be suprised by the terms used , what means one thing in one part of the world(or part of UK), means something else to others else where. When I visited in the late 70s and mid 80s I had trouble in some parts understanding/ making myself understood, I think we were all speaking English, It all goes to make life interesing (perhaps). Yes that Ian chap seems a little bitter and twuisted over something,Anyway i find most people on here very fiendly but there always a minority and i guess he is it!

You are correct that there are some friendly types here [but according to some I don't come into that catagory] although praise be, I'm not sensitive like your "mate"

Why the attitude, someone is offering something you may want, makes a polite response, uses a generally accepted English firendly term and you get all bent out of shape over it!!!

Mate, you really need to lighten up a little,.

marra, pal,. buudy, friend, etc etc.

It is all just a term of polite friendliness, don't take it to heart or be offended!!!

Out here in the East of England my father is 'old boy' at 85, so is my great nephew who is 5!

All males are called or referred to as old boy, as all females are referred to as old girl, irrespective of age.

We know our own colloquialisms but are not too keen on some others…

An old boy was standing outside his house in a rural village in Suffolk when a big shiny 4×4 pulled up beside him, driven by Londoners who had just moved up but who didn't know their way round yet.

"Hello John, can you tell me how to get to St Margarets?"

"How do you know my name is John?" said the old boy.

"Err…well, I guessed" came the reply.

"Best you guess your way to St Margarets then!"
