      @cva-glen
      Good afternoon all,
The cams in the spindle of my cva lathe seem to be a bit worn and i was wondering if someone could point me in the direction of a new set?.
Also, does anybody know the dates of cva serial numbers, one of mine is
      S/N 1A 1526-kearney&trecker but no build date,the other is AJ958-AUG 1956.Any help on would be fantastic. regards-glen

          Hi cva-glen ,

are you running a job with the old cams now?

the cams for the CVA and BSA automatic screw machines are made from 3/8″
plate if I remember correctly with a 1″ hole for the spindle
original cam blanks are divided into 100

BSA still manufacture the cams,It could be an answer If you can not find CVA ones
but you can make your own from 3/8″ plate

BSA and I assume CVA manuals give you examples of how to mark out the cams your self
its hard work ,I know but I’ve done it once for my dad about 40 years ago
he started as an autosetter in the 40’s at the BICC factory in Prescot ,but unfortunately
is no longer with us to ask

If your cams are still usable you could just make copys but compensating for the ware
          you could try cnczone :-

Hi John,I think i might have not have been as clear as i could with this post, sorry about that-must be clearer in future. My cva is a toolroom lathe and the problem is wth the cams that lock the chuck. When i looked closer it seems one of the lugs on the chuck backplate is solid and they should move a little i think,I will free it off and see if this makes any differance, fingers crossed. Thanks again John. glen
p.s. sorry for the long time in replying.

I had totally the wrong cams in mind !

I’ve not used a cam lock chuck , but this link may help until some one else chips in :–
