I am afraid I fall into the negative camp on this issue Steve. …
…
You are obviously in a minority of folk that thinks the world is after them. I am being watched an all etc etc. …
Steve.
Steve, can I remind you when Jon Lawes warned of the need to be vague about location, you replied:
Thanks for that. But Leeds has over 3 million people, so pretty vague on my location. And less than an hour later, Jon posted: I've pinged you a message with your house number on … it was a three minute search, …
Rather than Oily Rag being 'obviously in a minority of folk that thinks the world is after them', is it possible you're an innocent abroad on the Internet? I recommend taking the possibility seriously!
Unfortunately, most security advice on the web is aimed at consumers: what ordinary users need to do to protect myself from publishers. Harder to find information about how publishers like Steve should protect themselves because publishers are expected to know what they're doing. They go on courses, recruit qualified staff, pay for consultancy, and buy secure hosting services. In contrast, retired gents doing a bit of amateur web publishing rarely have the background needed to do so in complete safety.
I suggest some swotting is in order: Didn't take me long to find advice like: If you post videos to YouTube, there’s a lot to worry about: notably, privacy-invading content in your videos…
