      Gentlemen,

Has anybody made an adjustable saddle stop for the Clarke CL 500.

      Thanks,

          Yes, me!

I made an upside-down L-shaped block. The short arm of the L has a 90-degree triangular cutout to fit over the raised way on the bed. The long arm is drilled through for an M5 screw which pulls up a clamping piece to hold it to the bed. the clamp has a raised ridge on the outside to encourage it to tilt as the screw is tightened.

In the corner of the L is a threaded hole for lengthwise piece of studding with a locknut that acts as the stop against the carriage.

It would be improved by making the long arm of the L a bit wider, so the pivot ridge on the clamp could give greater clamping force with less torque on the screw.

It lives on the lathe all the time, the studding is short enough that it tucks out of the way at the far left of the bed.

As that’s probably far from clear, I’ll try and remember to post a pic.

Thanks a picture would be handy, I have a micrometer head to use for the adjustable stop.

              Hi Martin,

A couple of pictures – you can see my memory was bit out of kilter as it doesn’t quite fit my description.

I’ll write this up for MEW as I don’t think a mini lathe one has been done before.

              Regards

              Neil
