RIDING TROLLEY DIMENSIONS

Can anybody give me the dimensions for a 5″ raised level track riding trolley ? I already have a ground level trolley but need to be able to convert this to raised level. The width over the track and the drop and width at foot level. Many thanks. Noel.

I do not think there is a standard, some clubs publish this on there website. Your best bet is to go and measure your local club, if it helps my truck has rail head to bottom of foot board supports 11 inches and foot boards 16 inches appart. But it has some scrapes were it has hit the anti tip rail (I cant rember witch club) It allso hits one of the supports at chelmsford.Hope this helps.

Hi Paul, you’ve hit the nail on the head, My local club is ground level 5″/7.25″ but looking to travel and knowing many tracks have 5″ raised level I need to know the dimensions is my dilemma. Thanks for your input, I had nieavley thought there would be a standard. Thank you. Noel.

It’s best that you don’t have a rigid set of leg irons. At my club generally we have bar onto we hang the leg irons and allow them to swing. This also allows to adjust the width of leg iron by putting collars on the bar. If you have a tender loco it is better and more comfortable to fit the leg irons on the tender rather than the driving skate.
