Name those castings

Can anybody identify these engine parts for me please. A friend of mine died recently, and I'm helping to dispose of a mountain or "stuff". It is a two stroke, with a bore and stroke of about 1 3/8" (35mm). The part built engine is water cooled, but there is also an unmachined air cooled cylinder casting for it. Any suggestions about what it is would be welcome. Thanks,

Looks like a Stuart-Turner lightweight – Jason's building one which he updates from time to time in the Workshop Progress thread.

As Rod says they are for a Stuart Lightweight 30cc 2-stroke petrol engine from the 1930s. You look to have both the air and water cooled cylinders but only the water cooled head.

I have just about finished one that I carved from solid, there are a couple of nice examples on this page from the Model Engine Museum.

Looks like Rod has got his bid in already

Thanks to Jason's link Maurice has managed to identify 2 more ST lightweight castings:

And yes, we did agree what I hope was a fair price. I'm looking forward to making these – looks like it's going to have to be a matched pair of air and water cooled . I've unearthed a 1972 Stuart catalogue and the lightweight was still being offered then so the age is unknown.

It was also a great pleasure to meet Maurice and see his wonderfully detailed model stationary engine models.

Unless you are handy with photoshop then you will only need to make one bottom end, but you don't need castings for the crankcase anyway
