                  As may Tracy Tools.

Could be a tough one to tap from scratch. You might screwcut it first and finish with a tap.

"Home and workshop machinery" have both Imperial and Metric feed screw + nut available.

Yes, Tracy Tools do have the relevant tap (I have no connection with them save that I live a mile or so from their place!).

I have a worn cross slide feed nut and I have a mind to try to fabricate a replacement as the feed screw is relatively ok. Has anybody any experience, that they could share, of doing so and would it be the same for the top slide feed nut?

                      Thanks

I would rough it out by screwcutting in the lathe first then finish it off with a tap. Tapping from scratch can be tough on those chunky threads. Even if you rough it out as a basic square thread will help.

                          Hopper, Thanks for the tip!
