      excuse me if I have put this in the wyrong section but here goes

      I am looking for a modellers lathe for some of the aircraft I am building so generally small alloy or brass but would like to get a little more into the hobby.

      I have looked at the new chinese small modellers lathes and I am undecided a myford has come up local to me at a good price am Iooking at a world of pain or something I can work with?

            If you don't think you have the skills to assess the lathe, get in touch with your local model engineering society and ask for help. Almost certainly someone will help you check it over. They can be wrecks, but also some may be perfectly adequate for accurate work. Some may even be in very good fettle. It is always buyef beware.
