        Hello all,

I am looking to purchase a new vice for my milling machine, approximately 50mm jaw width. I initially favoured Vertex because I have bought several pieces of kit from them and have been happy all of them. Can anyone give me feedback regarding the Arceuro type 2 precision tool vice, it looks good but you can't beat end user experience..

        Regards,

        Michael

          .

          I have both a 100mm Vertex and a small ARC type 2.

Both are good and do their job as intended. The Vertex is not finished as well overall but is so on the areas that matter.

I think you will be happy with either. (that's not helpful at all now is it.?) indecision

I'm still waiting for the 75mm version of Arc's no-lift milling vice. Come on Ketan, get your finger out!

I look now and again but I want to see removable jaws with the usual 2 V's for bar that aren't too big.

Why ? Well it's easy to make soft jaws and mill them to requirements with steps rather than buying parallels but not so easy to get the V's spot on.

Although they have their uses I'm not that fond of the screwless vices. I much prefer the old Abwood style vice but modern versions from the likes of Bison are very expensive. I bought a similar style 4" Soba ( Shoba) vice from Chronos and it's been very good. I have heard complaints about some Soba stuff but my vice is very nicely made and accurately ground by my reckoning. The best anyone can say is would I buy one again and I have to say yes, I would. Those Bison vices do look nice though …

I bought a Warco DH-1 vice some time ago and am very pleased with its versatility.

Unfortunately, the price seems to have jumped considerably from when I got it.
