Since the last update to Windows 7, in Outlook, every ten seconds or so, I get a pop up inviting me to enter my pass word. Clicking on "OK" does not stop this repeating.

It does not seem to prevent me using Outlook in the normal way

Does anyone else have this problem?

And, more importantly, is there a way to disable this annoying feature?

      Howard

Do you have to actually enter the pw to continue? if not you can move it to the very edge of the screen and it may be happy to sit there until it (never) gets attention. We have a bit of s/w on our company computers that does that and it now sits quietly in its corner. We also have Skype for Business that always asks but doesn't need authentication. You'd think they'd get it right for a business application.

I remember when someone at work inadvertently turned on the assistant for Microsoft Word. I thought the little animated paper clip was quite amusing but they didn’t like it! smiley

I get this from time to time.

                Its a right PITA.

The only solution seems to be to repair the account.

For the last week, since these pop ups started, have been able to Send, but not Receive, E mails.

Minutes ago, the IN basket suddenly filled with 53 items! So, it was not my machine ( unless it has some capacity to self heal ) but a server problem. No more problems, hopefully, and as the BBC used to say "Normal Service has been Resumed"

"Hit any key when ready" WHERE did I put that 14 lb sledge hammer?

Your mailserver wouldn't be Telus would it Howard?

(Incidentally, I don't have any rosoft pop-up on my Mic wink   )

I'm with Talk Talk, who apparently could find no problem with their system

It all seemed to start after an update for Windows, last week.

Since this morning everything has worked fine, and if anything, faster than before!

                        Another of life's great mysteries!

…. it was just that your experience suggests (temporary) mail server problems more than Windows – Talk Talk notwithstanding.

In the same time frame, someone else on the Listmoms Eudora List reported a very similar problem which resolved itself at about the same time as yours. It's fairly certain that was mailserver activity but it was a Telus server.

Bear in mind that this week and next week lots of people are taking a week off. This will include the one and only person in the whole company that knows how to fix the problem without reading the manual. The deputy will be struggling to power up his machine to read the electronic manual.frown

I stopped thinking that it was something that I had inadvertently done, and began to blame a recent update.

Not too long ago, I had complained to Talk Talk about slow / delayed mail deliveries.

Now, after a week of no deliveries followed by this mass delivery, things seem to have speeded up. maybe the server was failing, and repair/replacement has solved an ongoing problem?

Lets hope that things stay this way.
