This morning, whilst grating Nutmeg … I was reminded to look-up the patent for manufacturing the Microplane blades:

It took me a bit of twigging to understand it, but effectively, it uses the etchant’s flow and surface-tension properties between two boundaries to create the sharp bevels?

Yes – it is impressive!
